Chapter 5- A short summary of “The Legacy of Distant Teachers”
The following are the 3 statements that must stood out to me:
1. Through using the library service called Education Resources
Information Center (ERIC) Search you can obtain a list of books and
articles related to your search from a data-based computer bank.
2. After discovering “landmark” authors, it may be helpful to search
ERIC works for them.
3. “Be open to serendipity; we’ve found that we stumble across
interesting references that beckon to be explored in surprising
places—from reviews in newspapers to discussions on the current
alternative music…”
An immediate wondering I had while reading this chapter was
whether a Google search would be at all productive or helpful when
doing this kind of research. As I read on in the extension section
there was my answer. “A search engine such as Google will lead you to
a wealth of new sources if you type in a few keywords or phrases.”
